According to a statement from NAF authorities, the strike was carried out after intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions identified the location as an active insurgent hideout and logistics hub. Terrorists were seen moving along concealed tracks into structures hidden under thick vegetation, confirming the area as a deliberately concealed enclave. Following this positive identification, NAF aircraft launched a coordinated attack on the site, engaging key buildings and storage points with onboard munitions. The rest are described as followers who became involved due to threats to their lives, lack of options or economic hardship in their communities. The trend has continued into 2026, with at least 1,091 deaths recorded from violent attacks in just the first 41 days of the year, underscoring the scale of Nigeria’s security crisis despite years of increased defence spending .
