The Nigerian Air Force has announced that its air component has destroyed a major terrorist base in the North-East through precision airstrikes. The operation is part of ongoing efforts to weaken terrorist networks, support ground troops and restore peace to affected communities.
According to a statement from NAF authorities, the strike was carried out after intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions identified the location as an active insurgent hideout and logistics hub. Terrorists were seen moving along concealed tracks into structures hidden under thick vegetation, confirming the area as a deliberately concealed enclave.
Following this positive identification, NAF aircraft launched a coordinated attack on the site, engaging key buildings and storage points with onboard munitions. The bombardment destroyed several structures believed to house fighters, weapons, fuel and other supplies used to support attacks in the region.
NAF officials said the airstrikes have significantly degraded the group’s ability to operate, limiting their freedom of movement and disrupting their informal war economy. By hitting both operational centres and logistics networks, the operation is expected to reduce the terrorists’ capacity to plan, coordinate and sustain further assaults on civilians and security forces.
The air operations were conducted under Operation Hadin Kai, the joint task force responsible for counterinsurgency efforts in the North-East. The mission forms part of a series of intelligence-led, precision strikes that NAF says will continue with increased intensity in coming days.
The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, reaffirmed the service’s commitment to maintaining pressure on terrorists until their remaining hideouts, camps and supply routes are dismantled. He stressed that the Nigerian Air Force will keep working closely with other security agencies to safeguard communities and ensure that no terrorist enclave remains beyond the reach of security forces.
