Police Arrest Husband Wife for Child Stealing in Ogun

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a husband and wife for allegedly stealing children in the state. The couple was identified as Isiaka Lukman aged 42 and Abosede Olanipekun aged 23 who are natives of Edo State. They were arrested in connection with a series of child abductions across Ogun and Osun states according to the police. The suspects are accused of kidnapping children and selling them for one million naira each. Police said they recovered 10 of the stolen children after the arrest though some parents are still searching for their missing children.  Dangote Revives Massive Olokola Deep Seaport Plan in Ogun

Aliko Dangote has reactivated plans to build a major deep seaport at Olokola in Ogun State, reviving a stalled project that is expected to be one of Nigeria’s largest port developments. The proposed Olokola deep seaport will sit within the Olokola Free Trade Zone and is designed to handle large vessels and heavy cargo. It is expected to support exports of fertiliser, petrochemicals and, in the future, liquefied natural gas, while also improving the importation of equipment and raw materials for Dangote’s industries. Dangote has already submitted key paperwork to the authorities to move the project forward, after getting renewed support from the Ogun State government and the Federal Government. Lone crash claims four lives on Lagos–Ibadan Expressway

The Federal Road Safety Corps has confirmed that four people died in a lone accident on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway on Sunday night. The crash occurred around 9 18 p m in front of Christopher University in the Mowe area of Obafemi Owode Local Government Ogun State. According to FRSC officials, the accident involved a commercial Toyota Hiace bus with registration number AGL 789 YL. Preliminary investigation indicated that a tyre burst and excessive speed caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle leading to the fatal crash. A total of 13 persons were on board comprising 11 adult males and two adult females. Police investigate alleged shooting of comedian Broda Shaggi

The police have opened an investigation into the alleged shooting of popular skit maker and comedian Samuel Perry, better known as Broda Shaggi, during a skit shoot in Ogun State. Reports say Broda Shaggi sustained a gunshot injury on Sunday afternoon while filming a comedy skit under the Sango Ota bridge in the Sango Ota area of Ogun. A police source quoted in multiple reports said the exact circumstances of the shooting remain unclear, but confirmed that the injury occurred at the location where he and his crew were working. Army intercepts 296 wraps of suspected cannabis in Ogun

Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 35 Artillery Brigade, Alamala Barracks, Abeokuta, have intercepted 296 large wraps of substances suspected to be cannabis sativa in Ogun State.​ The suspects were arrested during a stop and search operation along a major route in the state, after soldiers became suspicious of a commercial vehicle and ordered a thorough inspection.​ According to the army, the illicit substances were carefully concealed in multiple compartments of the vehicle in a bid to evade security checks.​ The driver and one other occupant were taken into custody after allegedly failing to provide satisfactory explanations or valid documentation for the consignment.​ Preliminary findings suggest the drugs were being transported from a border community for distribution to other parts of the southwest.​ The army said the seized wraps and suspects will be handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement […]

Lisabi Festival panel denies Egbaliganza takeover claim

The Lisabi Festival Committee has dismissed online claims that this year’s 39th edition of the historic celebration is being turned into a platform for Egbaliganza, the Egba fashion initiative led by Chief Lai Labode.​ In a statement signed by High Chief Rasheed Raji, Asipa of Egbaland and chairman of the committee, the panel described a viral video alleging that the festival now centres on Egbaliganza as entirely false and misleading.
