Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a husband and wife for allegedly stealing children in the state.
The couple was identified as Isiaka Lukman aged 42 and Abosede Olanipekun aged 23 who are natives of Edo State. They were arrested in connection with a series of child abductions across Ogun and Osun states according to the police.
The suspects are accused of kidnapping children and selling them for one million naira each. Police said they recovered 10 of the stolen children after the arrest though some parents are still searching for their missing children.
During interrogation the woman confessed to stealing children after her ex husband denied her access to their children. She said her present husband did not know that she stole the baby. The police also discovered that she had previously stolen another child in January 2021 and took him to Igbokoda and gave him to someone named Lucky. She falsely claimed the child died a few days later.
The couple claimed to have absconded with one newborn baby to the husband’s house in Makun Sagamu in Ogun State. The baby was stolen from a nursing mother who had accommodated the suspect because she claimed to be stranded.
The Ogun State Police Command confirmed the arrest and said further investigations are ongoing to trace more victims and arrest other members of the syndicate. The suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and possible prosecution.

Motorists lament obstruction, accident trap on Enugu–Onitsha Expressway

The West African Examinations Council on Wednesday announced the release of the 2026 Computer‑Based WASSCE for school candidates, revealing that over 1.2 million students met the minimum requirement for admission into tertiary institutions.
