The Federal Road Safety Corps has confirmed that four people died in a lone accident on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway on Sunday night. The crash occurred around 9 18 p m in front of Christopher University in the Mowe area of Obafemi Owode Local Government Ogun State.
According to FRSC officials, the accident involved a commercial Toyota Hiace bus with registration number AGL 789 YL. Preliminary investigation indicated that a tyre burst and excessive speed caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle leading to the fatal crash.
A total of 13 persons were on board comprising 11 adult males and two adult females. Eight people sustained injuries – seven adult males and one adult female – while all four fatalities were adult males.
FRSC rescue teams arrived at the scene within minutes, evacuating the injured to Famobis Hospital for urgent treatment and moving the dead to the Idera morgue. The sector commander condoled with the families of the victims and urged motorists to avoid over‑speeding, ensure proper tyre maintenance and drive with caution especially at night and during festive periods.
