Iwobi Rues World Cup Miss Ahead of 100th Cap Against Portugal

As he prepares to earn his 100th cap for Nigeria in Wednesday's international friendly against Portugal, Nigeria midfielder Alex Iwobi says he has no regrets about his decade-long career with the Super Eagles. Iwobi made his senior debut for Nigeria in October 2015 and will become only the fourth Nigerian player to reach 100 international caps, joining Joseph Yobo, Vincent Enyeama and Ahmed Musa. Barring any unexpected twist, Iwobi is expected to join Jospeh Yobo, Vincent Enyeama and Ahmed Musa as one of only four Nigerians to have played a century of games for the national team when he lines out against Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal in Leiria. His 99th appearance was during a friendly match against Jordan in Antalya in March, and unfortunately, he was sent off after uncharacteristically reacting to an opponent grabbing him. The Fulham midfielder, who represented […]

Iwobi hopeful of quick return after injury blow

Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has expressed optimism that he will return to action soon after suffering a hamstring injury during Fulham’s recent Premier League clash with Brentford. The 29-year-old pulled up unchallenged while chasing a loose ball and was forced off shortly before half-time in the goalless draw at the Gtech Community Stadium. Fulham manager Marco Silva initially described the setback as “really bad news”, but stressed that early indications suggested it was not a “serious, serious” hamstring problem. He said the club would have to wait for the results of a scan to determine the full extent of the damage, but remained hopeful that Iwobi could feature again before the end of the season. Providing his own update, Iwobi admitted he was frustrated by the timing of the injury but revealed he is still able to walk despite […]

Club and media reports confirm that Iwobi is still undergoing treatment and has been ruled out of Saturday’s fixture, extending his spell on the sidelines. He had already missed Fulham’s recent games against Aston Villa and Arsenal, with manager Marco Silva opting for other midfield options in his absence. EPL: Arsenal seek to ramp up heat on Man City in title race

Mikel Arteta’s side ended a poor domestic run with a hard fought 1 0 win over Newcastle United last weekend. That result kept them three points ahead of City, who still have a game in hand. According to data analysts Opta, Arsenal remain slight favourites to finish the season as champions if they win their remaining matches. However, any slip up against Fulham or in their final three games could swing the momentum decisively back towards Pep Guardiola’s team. Arsenal have struggled to score freely in recent weeks, failing to net more than once in any league match since mid March. City, by contrast, have hit form at the right time and are scoring with far greater ease. After facing Fulham, Arsenal still have tricky fixtures, including an away clash at West Ham United that many pundits see as their […]

Iwobi recalled how his father would leave bottles of water outside for waste collectors and support people around their neighbourhood in small but consistent ways. Those little gestures, he said, showed him that helping others does not always require grand resources, only a genuine desire to make life easier for people.
