Iwobi still out as Fulham face Bournemouth

Article arrow_drop_down

Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi will play no part in Fulham’s Premier League clash against Bournemouth at Craven Cottage as he continues his recovery from a hamstring injury. The 29 year old has not featured for the Cottagers since limping off in the first half of their goalless draw away to Brentford on matchday 33.

Club and media reports confirm that Iwobi is still undergoing treatment and has been ruled out of Saturday’s fixture, extending his spell on the sidelines. He had already missed Fulham’s recent games against Aston Villa and Arsenal, with manager Marco Silva opting for other midfield options in his absence.

Silva previously explained that the Nigerian star suffered a muscular problem in his hamstring and would be out for “a few weeks,” though the injury is not currently believed to be season ending. The Portuguese coach has repeatedly underlined how important Iwobi is to his side, praising his work rate, versatility and influence both on and off the pitch.

Ahead of the Bournemouth game, Fulham’s confirmed team news again lists Iwobi as unavailable, with the club waiting on further medical assessments before setting a definite return date. His continued absence is a blow for both Fulham’s late season push and Nigeria’s preparations for upcoming international commitments, as he remains a key figure for the Super Eagles.

Arsenal sense Premier League glory as Spurs eye safety

Arsenal are firmly back in control of the Premier League title race and head into the weekend believing they are on the brink of a first English crown in 22 years. Mikel Arteta’s side sit five points clear of Manchester City with just three games left and know that victory at struggling West Ham on Sunday would all but seal the trophy. City’s charge appeared relentless a few weeks ago, but a chaotic 3 3 draw at Everton earlier in the week has left the champions with little margin for error. Arsenal, by contrast, have rediscovered their early season form, stringing together key wins in the league while also progressing deep into the Champions League. Arteta has urged his players to block out title talk and focus on “taking care of business” at the London Stadium, warning that West Ham […]
