Ebola Risk High Inside DR Congo No Pandemic Emergency WHO Says

The World Health Organization has said that the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo poses a high risk inside the country but does not represent a global pandemic emergency. WHO Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus made this statement on Wednesday after meeting with the agency's emergency committee. He confirmed that the outbreak is a public health emergency of international concern but said it does not meet the criteria for a pandemic emergency. FAAN Promises Enhanced Ebola Preparedness at Nigerian Airports

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has assured travelers and the public that Nigerian airports are now better prepared to detect and prevent the spread of Ebola virus disease. This announcement comes after a new Ebola outbreak was confirmed in the Democratic Republic of Congo. FAAN said it has strengthened health screening measures at all major international airports across the country. The airports covered include Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport in Kano and Port Harcourt International Airport.
