The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has praised pilgrims from Lagos State and the Southwest region for their exemplary discipline and compliance during the ongoing Hajj pilgrimage in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
NAHCON officials commended Lagos and Southwest pilgrims for maintaining high standards of conduct throughout the pilgrimage rites, describing them as among the most disciplined state contingents in the Kingdom. The commission highlighted their orderly behaviour during ceremonies at Mount Arafat, Mina, and other holy sites.
During the Hajj, NAHCON led approximately 50,000 Nigerian pilgrims, including strong contingents from Lagos and Southwest states, in special prayers for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and the nation’s peace and stability at Mount Arafat.
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Kadiri Hamzat separately reached out to Lagos pilgrims through video calls while they were observing major Hajj rites at Mount Arafat. The Deputy Governor joined the pilgrims in prayers for Lagos State and Nigeria, assuring them that the state government would continue to prioritise their welfare throughout the pilgrimage.
NAHCON Chairman/CEO, Jalal Ahmad Arabi, has consistently acknowledged the effective coordination between state pilgrims’ boards and the commission, crediting Lagos State officials for their efficient management of pilgrim welfare and logistics. The commission noted that the smooth airlifting of Lagos and Southwest pilgrims was a testament to collaborative efforts between state governments and NAHCON.
The commission also reported that Saudi Arabia has licensed NAHCON clinics for Hajj operations, ensuring medical care for Nigerian pilgrims, including those from Lagos and the Southwest region. Stakeholders and pilgrims have separately hailed NAHCON for conducting successful flights despite the global oil price surge affecting air travel costs.
