NAHCON Hails Lagos, Southwest Pilgrims for Discipline and Compliance

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has praised pilgrims from Lagos State and the Southwest region for their exemplary discipline and compliance during the ongoing Hajj pilgrimage in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. NAHCON officials commended Lagos and Southwest pilgrims for maintaining high standards of conduct throughout the pilgrimage rites, describing them as among the most disciplined state contingents in the Kingdom. Nigerians in Middle East send distress calls as FG halts pilgrimage

Escalating violence in the Middle East has disrupted Nigerian pilgrimage plans and triggered distress calls from citizens living and working in the region. The Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission has announced the immediate suspension of all pilgrimages to Israel, citing the worsening security situation and the state of emergency declared by Israeli authorities. Executive Secretary Bishop Stephen Adegbite said the decision covers both government organised and privately arranged trips until conditions improve. He explained that the safety and welfare of pilgrims remain the top priority and urged intending pilgrims and operators to exercise patience while the Commission closely monitors developments. NAHCON Cuts 2026 Hajj Fare, Pilgrims to Save ₦200,000

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has announced reduced fares for the 2026 pilgrimage to Mecca, with each pilgrim expected to save an average of ₦200,000 compared to last year. NAHCON Chairman, Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman, disclosed the new pricing after the commission signed service agreements with Saudi Arabia’s Mashareeq Al-Zahabiyya (Hajj Service Provider) and Daleel Al-Ma’aleem (Transportation Company). According to the commission, fares will range between ₦8.1 million and ₦8.5 million, depending on the departure zone. Maiduguri-Yola Zone (Yobe, Borno, Adamawa, Taraba): ₦8,118,333.67, down by about ₦209,000 from the 2025 fare of ₦8,327,125.59.
