Starmer: UK To Host Multi Nation Meeting On Hormuz Shipping

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has announced that Britain will host a multi nation meeting focused on restoring safe commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. The gathering will bring together representatives from around 35 countries to discuss diplomatic, economic and security steps to reopen the vital waterway, which has been heavily disrupted by the Iran conflict and related blockades. Starmer said the UK is prepared to take a leadership role in coordinating a credible, collective plan to guarantee freedom of navigation in the Gulf. He warned that ongoing disruptions in Hormuz, one of the world’s most important oil and gas shipping routes, pose a serious threat to global energy supplies and living standards in countries like Britain. The meeting, to be hosted in London and led by Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper, will bring together foreign and defence officials from […]

Court Vacates Arrest Warrant Against PDP Factional Chairman Kabiru Turaki

An Abuja High Court has vacated the bench warrant it earlier issued for the arrest of factional Peoples Democratic Party national chairman, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki (SAN). The bench warrant had been granted after Turaki failed to appear for arraignment on a one count charge of allegedly giving false information to the police. The charge stems from a petition he wrote in 2022 as a private citizen, accusing certain persons of wrongdoing. The Inspector General of Police later filed a case against him, alleging that the information in the petition was false. Justice Peter Kekemeke had on March 25 ordered Turaki’s arrest, ruling that there was no justification for his absence in court. However, Turaki’s lawyers immediately appealed the order and filed an application for stay of execution, arguing that he missed the sitting due to a sudden hospital visit and […]

El Rufai Arrives Kaduna Court For Resumed Bail Hearing

Former Kaduna State governor Nasir El Rufai has arrived at the Federal High Court in Kaduna for the continuation of the hearing on his bail application. He was driven into the court premises at about 9am under tight security provided by police and Department of State Services operatives. Today’s sitting follows an earlier adjournment after the prosecution filed a counter affidavit opposing his bail request. The development had left El Rufai’s lawyers asking for more time to study the new documents, prompting the judge to shift the matter to Wednesday. El Rufai remains in the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission as he faces multiple corruption related charges. The case has attracted heavy public interest, with access to parts of the court complex now restricted due to heightened security measures.

Tonto Dikeh: I Once Worked For Demons Before God Restored Me

Nollywood star turned evangelist Tonto Dikeh has revealed that she once joined a cult and “worked with demons” before, according to her, God restored her life. She made the confession during a recent Christian ministration in Tanzania, where she shared a detailed personal testimony. Speaking to the congregation, Dikeh said there was a time when she was “fully immersed in darkness.” She admitted that in trying to navigate a “wicked world,” she dipped her hands in “filth and dirt,” joined a cult and worked closely with demonic forces. According to her, those experiences gave her a deeper understanding of spiritual battles but left her broken and empty. She described reaching a turning point when she felt God tell her that He would take her back, clean her up and put her on altars to preach the gospel. Dikeh said she […]

Iwobi, Simon Close To 100 Caps As Super Eagles Target Win Over Jordan

Alex Iwobi and Moses Simon are closing in on historic 100 cap milestones as the Super Eagles take on Jordan in an international friendly in Antalya, Turkey. Iwobi is set to earn his 98th appearance for Nigeria, while Simon is on track for his 97th cap. Only a handful of Nigerian players have ever reached the ‘centurion’ mark, including Joseph Yobo, Ahmed Musa and John Obi Mikel. Iwobi and Simon are now within touching distance of joining that elite group if they stay fit and remain in the plans of head coach Eric Chelle. The Super Eagles go into the clash against Jordan on the back of a 2 1 win over Iran in their first game of the Antalya four nation invitational tournament. Moses Simon and Akor Adams scored the goals in that match, extending Nigeria’s unbeaten run in […]

Cucurella Says He Wouldn’t Have Sacked Maresca Mid Season

Chelsea left back Marc Cucurella says he would not have sacked Enzo Maresca in the middle of the season, insisting the club needed patience with the Italian coach. Speaking while on duty with Spain, he argued that constant managerial changes have hurt Chelsea’s progress. Cucurella said the team became more consistent under Maresca after working together for about 18 months. He explained that by the final months of the Italian’s tenure, players understood the system so well that they were playing almost instinctively. Time is crucial, he added, pointing to Arsenal as an example of a club that stuck with Mikel Arteta for years before reaping rewards. According to him, Chelsea have instead “paid the price” for inexperience and a lack of long term thinking in their project. Reflecting on Maresca’s January exit, Cucurella said he would have waited until […]

It did not immediately name a replacement or give detailed reasons beyond the recent results. Under Addo’s second spell in charge, which began in March 2024, Ghana failed to qualify for the 2025 […]
