Germany urges citizens to leave Iran over security risks
Germany has advised its citizens to immediately leave Iran, citing possible retaliation from Tehran following Berlin’s role in activating United Nations sanctions linked to Iran’s nuclear programme. On Thursday, Germany, alongside Britain and France, initiated a 30-day process to reimpose U.N. sanctions on Iran, a move that is expected to heighten tensions in the region. The decision comes just two months after Israel and the United States carried out airstrikes against Iran.
