Obasogie denies match fixing claims after three month suspension

Super Eagles goalkeeper Amas Obasogie has firmly denied allegations of match fixing after his Tanzanian club, Singida Black Stars, handed him a three month suspension. The club announced that he was suspended pending investigation into suspected match manipulation in two games, including a CAF Confederation Cup tie against Flambeau du Centre and a league match against Namungo FC. In a personal statement, Obasogie insisted he had never engaged in match fixing and would never do so, describing the incidents under review as normal football errors, not deliberate acts. He explained that the costly late goal conceded against Namungo, where he spilled a routine free kick and allowed an equaliser, was a genuine mistake that can happen to any goalkeeper. Obasogie apologised to Singida’s management, coaches, teammates and supporters for the disappointment caused by his performances and said he is committed […]

Super Eagles stars one booking away from AFCON ban

Four key Super Eagles players risk suspension ahead Nigeria’s final AFCON 2025 Group C match against Uganda. Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Semi Ajayi and goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali are all one yellow card away from missing the Round of 16. If Osimhen is booked in the Uganda game, coach Eric Chelle may be forced to start Paul Onuachu as striker in the first knockout match. Lookman, who has scored in both of Nigeria’s games so far, would also be ruled out of the next round if he receives another caution. Ajayi’s card situation could push Chelle to adjust his back line, possibly turning to Zaidu Sanusi to keep the defence stable. Nwabali, cautioned for time wasting against Tunisia, would be replaced by Francis Uzoho if he picks up a second yellow card. Nigeria have already beaten Tanzania 2-1 and Tunisia 3-2, […]

Actor Taye Arimoro rejects AGN suspension over alleged on-set assault

Actor Taye Arimoro has denounced his indefinite suspension by major Nollywood guilds over an alleged on-set assault, describing their joint statement as “inaccurate” and promising to challenge it in court. He is demanding N100 million in compensation from Ovire and has dismissed her version of events as “grossly misleading.” Ovire, on the other hand, maintains that Arimoro was the aggressor in the incident. Pogba Returns in Monaco Loss as PSG Stay Top in France

Paul Pogba made his long-awaited return to competitive football in Monaco’s 4-1 defeat to Rennes, marking his first appearance in over two years after battling injuries, a doping ban, and an extortion plot. Entering as a late substitute, Pogba received a warm ovation from both sets of fans and expressed deep gratitude to supporters. Former Tottenham Star Taricco Suspended for Racist Gesture in South Korea

Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Mauricio Taricco has been suspended for five matches and fined 20 million won ($13,600) by the K League after making a racist “slant-eye” gesture toward a referee in South Korea. Taricco, now assistant coach at Jeonbuk, was sent off after contesting a penalty call and then reportedly shouted the Spanish word for “racist” before pulling his eyes back with his fingers. K League officials ruled his behavior racist and referenced similar gestures as grounds for prior FIFA sanctions. Taricco claimed he was simply questioning whether the referee saw the handball, but the league rejected his explanation. Jeonbuk, under manager Gus Poyet, won the first-division title this season, with Taricco as assistant. The duo have worked together in England, Greece, Spain, China, and France. The K League emphasized zero tolerance for actions widely perceived as racist.

Barcelona Coach Flick Vows to Change Behavior After Red Card

Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has admitted he needs to change his behavior after being sent off during a recent match, saying he doesn't want his grandchildren to see him act that way. Reflecting on the incident, Flick acknowledged that he has become more emotionally expressive since joining Barcelona. He told reporters, "I don't like seeing myself in this state on television...
