Immigration boss condemns border extortion allegations

The Nigeria Immigration Service has condemned allegations of extortion against its personnel along the Lagos Seme border corridor and taken disciplinary action against senior officers. Comptroller General of Immigration Kemi Nanna Nandap ordered an investigation into the alleged misconduct, describing the behaviour shown in videos and reports as unacceptable and a clear breach of the Service’s core values and standards. In a statement signed by the Service’s Public Relations Officer, Akinsola Akinlabi, the NIS announced that the Controllers in charge of the affected commands have been temporarily relieved of their duties pending the outcome of the probe.
