150 emerging talents grace NewHope Naija tourney

The inaugural NewHope Naija Football Club Scouting Tournament has showcased 150 emerging talents from academies in Lagos and Ijebu Ode at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan. The three day event drew more than 10 scouts from European and Chinese clubs, who watched closely for the next generation of Nigerian stars. Players from 12 football academies displayed their skills in tightly contested matches designed to test technique, game intelligence and mentality. Organisers said the format allowed scouts to see how youngsters perform under pressure in a competitive environment. NDLEA busts syndicate hiding cocaine and loud in food flasks to UK

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has uncovered a drug trafficking syndicate that hid cocaine and loud in food flasks and snack packs for shipment to the United Kingdom and Nigeria.​ The agency said its officers at the export shed of Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, intercepted 12 large parcels of cocaine concealed in the false bottom of food flasks on April 9. The consignment, weighing 2.80 kilograms, was destined for the UK on a Virgin Atlantic flight.​ Two cargo agents, Ama Obinna Ufeim, 33, and Ogabi Monday Akorede, 39, were arrested at the airport. Police bust job scam kidnap gang luring victims to Rivers

The Rivers State Police Command has uncovered and arrested a kidnap syndicate that lured victims from Lagos and other states to Rivers with fake job offers. Police said the abduction of one Chukwudekwu Emmanuel, a Lagos resident kidnapped on 17 February 2026 in Etche Local Government Area, led to the breakthrough. Operatives attached to the Emohua area, using technology driven strategies introduced by Inspector General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu, arrested three key suspects on 14 April 2026. Former Rivers State governor Rotimi Amaechi, billionaire banker Tony Elumelu and Nollywood star Genevieve Nnaji were among top dignitaries who attended the service of songs for the late father of Arise TV presenter Ojy Okpe in Lagos. NDLEA Uncovers Cocaine Hidden In Dry Stock Fish Heads

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have intercepted a large consignment of cocaine concealed in the heads of imported dry stock fish in Lagos. The seizure was made during a strategic operation targeting a trans border drug syndicate that ships narcotics to countries including India. Female passenger dies, six injured in Lagos expressway crash

A female passenger has died and six other people have been injured in a road accident along the Oworonsoki Apapa Expressway in Lagos. The crash occurred at New Castle Bus Stop, inward Gbagada, and involved a commercial vehicle carrying passengers.
