Troops Rescue 360 Women, Children Abducted by Boko Haram in Gwoza

Nigerian security personnel have rescued 360 hostages, including many women and children, from a mountainous refuge in Borno State, where they had been held by Boko Haram's Jama'atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda'awati wal-Jihad (JAS) faction. The operation, led by the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, targeted the Mandara Mountains in the southern part of the state. The military confirmed Sunday that the hostages had been abducted by the JAS faction over an indeterminate period from various localities across the region. A collaborative task force, including special forces, compelled JAS militants to flee their positions and liberated the captives. Troops Kill Several Terrorists Rescue Ngoshe Kidnapped Victims

Troops of the Nigerian Army under Operation Hadin Kai have rescued additional kidnapped victims from the Ngoshe community in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State and killed several terrorists in sustained operations across the North East. In a clearance mission along the Mandara Mountains axis on May 14 2026 troops intercepted and rescued six women and children who had been held captive by Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorist elements along the Amuda–Gava corridor in the Gwoza area. The rescued victims all residents of Ngoshe community include Amina Salihu 52, Aishatu Musa 50, twin sisters Hassana and Hussaina Abubakar 9 years each, Adamu Zakariyya 12, and Usman Zakariyya 10. Tinubu condemns Borno abductions, urges Nigerians to resist fear

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has condemned the recent terrorist attack and mass abductions in Ngoshe community, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State, and urged Nigerians not to give in to fear. He directed the Armed Forces and other security agencies to urgently rescue all those abducted during the assault, which was carried out by suspected Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists. Refugees return home as Nigeria–Cameroon repatriation pact kicks in

A tripartite agreement between the Federal Government, Cameroon, Borno State and the UNHCR for the voluntary return of Nigerian refugees from Cameroon has begun yielding results, with displaced citizens now going back home. The deal covers Nigerians who fled Boko Haram and ISWAP attacks and have been living for years in camps such as Minawao in Cameroon.​ Former Senate Leader Ali Ndume commended President Bola Tinubu and the Borno State Government for fully activating the Yaoundé agreement signed in 2017. Ndume urges FG support for Borno IDPs resettlement amid insurgency

Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume has called on the Federal Government to urgently support Borno State in resettling, reconstructing and rehabilitating victims displaced by over a decade of insurgency. He made the appeal during a Christmas luncheon he organised with the Coalition of Christian Youths for IDPs at the Christian Association of Nigeria Centre in Borno.​ The event drew hundreds of displaced persons, traditional rulers, political leaders, religious figures and community stakeholders.
