FAAN Promises Enhanced Ebola Preparedness at Nigerian Airports

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has assured travelers and the public that Nigerian airports are now better prepared to detect and prevent the spread of Ebola virus disease. This announcement comes after a new Ebola outbreak was confirmed in the Democratic Republic of Congo. FAAN said it has strengthened health screening measures at all major international airports across the country. The airports covered include Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport in Kano and Port Harcourt International Airport. United Nigeria grounds three aircraft after repeated bird strikes

United Nigeria Airlines has grounded three of its aircraft in 48 hours after a series of bird strike incidents.​ The airline’s Public Relations Officer, Chibuike Uloka, said in a statement on Friday that the latest incident involved an Embraer 190 aircraft at Benin City Airport on Thursday.​ He explained that the affected aircraft, operating Flight UN0561 from Benin to Abuja, was withdrawn from service after its nose landing gear was damaged by a bird strike.​ According to the News Agency of Nigeria, a bird strike happens when a bird collides with a moving aircraft, usually during takeoff or landing at low altitude. Fed Govt Tightens Airport Security With New Joint Screening System

Airport access gates, car parks, VIP lounges go cashless – FAAN

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced that beginning September 29, 2025, all payments at its revenue points will be strictly digital. In a statement on Friday, the agency said the new policy will cover airport access gates, car parks, VIP and protocol lounges across the country’s airports, starting with Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. FAAN explained that the shift was designed to enhance efficiency, transparency, and customer experience, while aligning Nigeria’s airports with global digital payment standards.
