Nigeria Moves to Tap $3.5trn Global Halal Economy

Nigeria is taking steps to position itself for a bigger share of the fast growing global halal economy estimated at several trillion dollars in value. The federal government and private sector stakeholders are working together to build structures that will allow the country to benefit from halal trade investment and finance opportunities. President Bola Tinubu earlier this year launched Nigeria's National Halal Economy Strategy in Abuja. The policy is designed to help Nigeria tap into the global halal market valued at about 7.7 trillion dollars by promoting standards certification and investments in halal compliant products and services. According to government projections the strategy could add around 1.5 billion dollars to Nigeria's Gross Domestic Product by 2027 and unlock up to 12 billion dollars in wider economic value over the next decade.  Dangote Revives Massive Olokola Deep Seaport Plan in Ogun

Aliko Dangote has reactivated plans to build a major deep seaport at Olokola in Ogun State, reviving a stalled project that is expected to be one of Nigeria’s largest port developments. The proposed Olokola deep seaport will sit within the Olokola Free Trade Zone and is designed to handle large vessels and heavy cargo. It is expected to support exports of fertiliser, petrochemicals and, in the future, liquefied natural gas, while also improving the importation of equipment and raw materials for Dangote’s industries. Dangote has already submitted key paperwork to the authorities to move the project forward, after getting renewed support from the Ogun State government and the Federal Government. The port site is planned to be about 100 kilometres from his refinery and fertiliser facilities around Lagos, creating a direct logistics corridor between the plants and the Atlantic coast. […]

Mahama Unveils 24-Hour Economy Strategy to Attract Global Investors

President John Dramani Mahama has told international investors that Ghana is “open for business round the clock” as the government rolls out its ambitious 24-hour economy agenda. Speaking at the 8th Africa–Singapore Business Forum on Tuesday, August 26, Mahama said the initiative is built on three key pillars: productivity, exports, and job creation. “Our economic strategy is anchored in productivity, exports, and jobs.
