Nigerian Army renovates 91 year old primary school in Sokoto

The Nigerian Army has renovated the 91 year old Magajin Rafi Model Primary School in Sokoto State under the Chief of Army Staff Special Intervention Civil Military Cooperation Scheme. G/A Minister leads cleanup exercise in Shai-Osudoku

 • Ms Ocloo (second from left) and others sweeping the area The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Ms Linda Akweley Ocloo, on Satur­day led a cleanup exercise in the Shai-Osudoku District as part of the second edition of the “Region­al Sanitation Day.” The exercise, which began at 6:00 am saw participants cleaning their surroundings and streets, de-silting choked gutters and clear­ing weeds. The exercise was in direct fulfilment of the Regional Coordi­nating Council to all Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies within the Greater Accra Region to embark on a massive clean-up exercise as part of the Regional Sanitation Day. Addressing journalists after the exercise, Ms Ocloo who is also Member of Parliament (MP) for the area said the exercise was in line with the directive from the President to make Accra the clean­est city in Africa.

Hohoe Celebrates Opening of New 7,000-Seat Stadium.

Hohoe in the Volta Region has unveiled a new 7,000-seat stadium, marking a milestone in local sports development. The project, initially conceived in 2005 by MP John Peter Amewu when he was Municipal Chief Executive, was designed to nurture athletic talent in the region. Despite a pause in construction after Amewu left office in 2008, the project resumed in 2016 with support from local chiefs, private individuals, and the community.Amewu, recalling the humble beginnings of the project with 120,000 concrete blocks intended for a hotel, emphasized the stadium’s potential to cultivate future sports stars. Already, local athletes have caught the attention of national and international scouts, and plans to expand the stadium are underway. Amewu hopes to see players from Hohoe represent Ghana’s Black Stars in the future.

World Vision Ghana and Polytank Partner to Provide Safe Water for Schools and Communities.

In a transformative step towards better sanitation, the community of Gbabshei in the Tamale South Constituency of the Northern Region has constructed 20 biodigester household latrines, drastically reducing open defecation.This initiative, spearheaded by Nimatu Abdul-Rahman, a volunteer with CorpsAfrica/Ghana, was launched as part of World Toilet Day activities. It aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 6, aiming to improve access to clean water and sanitation.For years, Gbabshei struggled with poor sanitation, facing health risks such as chronic diarrhoea, cholera outbreaks, and even snake bites.
