Businessman and nightlife mogul Obi Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, has received his appointment letter as South East Coordinator of the City Boy Movement from Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu.
The appointment was formalised during a visit by Seyi Tinubu to Obi Cubana’s residence on Monday night and later announced via the socialite’s Instagram page on Tuesday.
Obi Cubana, reacting to mixed public reactions, defended his decision to accept the political mobilisation role, stressing that real change comes from engagement rather than staying on the sidelines. “Regarding my recent appointment as South East Coordinator of the City Boy Movement, I’m fully aware of the varied reactions it has sparked. My belief remains firm: lasting change comes from constructive engagement, not standing apart,” he wrote.
He assured supporters that the new position would not derail his long standing commitment to integrity, community development and responsible leadership. “Service continues to guide me, and this new role does nothing to alter my commitment to integrity, community growth, and responsible leadership,” he added.
Obi Cubana declared himself “a City Boy through and through, inside and out,” saying influence is limited when one remains outside structures of power. He described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as “equally a City Boy and a man of commerce,” and pledged to ensure inclusivity in the discharge of his duties.
“Our nation’s leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, is equally a City Boy and a man of commerce. All of us need all of us in order to achieve our national aspirations and I am committed to carrying every Nigerian along in all that I do,” he said.
Calling for tolerance and constructive discourse, Obi Cubana urged Nigerians to respect differing opinions while staying focused on creating tangible value for national development. “Let’s respect differing views, keep conversations vibrant, and stay focused on building real value. The moment is now—we move!” he concluded.

EPL: Arsenal seek to ramp up heat on Man City in title race
Mikel Arteta’s side ended a poor domestic run with a hard fought 1 0 win over Newcastle United last weekend. That result kept them three points ahead of City, who still have a game in hand. According to data analysts Opta, Arsenal remain slight favourites to finish the season as champions if they win their remaining matches. However, any slip up against Fulham or in their final three games could swing the momentum decisively back towards Pep Guardiola’s team. Arsenal have struggled to score freely in recent weeks, failing to net more than once in any league match since mid March. City, by contrast, have hit form at the right time and are scoring with far greater ease. After facing Fulham, Arsenal still have tricky fixtures, including an away clash at West Ham United that many pundits see as their […]

Supreme Court judgment: Rivers ADC shifts focus to winning 2027 polls
The Rivers State chapter of the African Democratic Congress says it is now fully focused on winning the 2027 general elections after a Supreme Court judgment restored the party’s David Mark led national leadership. The ruling set aside an earlier Court of Appeal order that had asked all factions to maintain the status quo in the party’s leadership crisis. Rivers ADC chairman elect Dr Chukwudi Dimkpa described the Supreme Court decision as a welcome development and a major relief for members. He said the verdict provides a clear and lawful pathway for the party to organise itself and prepare for the next polls. The apex court held that the Court of Appeal acted outside its jurisdiction when it issued fresh directives after already dismissing the appeal before it. Justices of the Supreme Court called the status quo order unnecessary, unwarranted […]

Onscreen kissing is weird, unpleasant – Saga Adeoluwa
Nollywood actor and reality TV star Saga Adeoluwa says onscreen kissing is weird and unpleasant and that many viewers are wrong to think actors enjoy it. He says most performers only do such scenes because they are required to tell the story properly, not because they find them exciting. Saga explains that kissing on set is uncomfortable because there is no real intimacy and the exchange of saliva makes it awkward. He adds that the presence of cameras, crew and other actors watching also makes the experience far from romantic. Despite appearing in several romantic movies, Saga says he cannot remember a single onscreen kiss he truly enjoyed. For him, intimate scenes are some of the most challenging parts of acting in love stories. He notes that before shooting any kissing scene, he tries to have a clear discussion with […]
