Banditry displaces over 500,000 residents in Niger, says Bago

OPL 245 deal to boost Nigeria’s oil output by 150,000 barrels daily

The Federal Government says resolving the long running dispute over Oil Prospecting Licence 245 will unlock new deepwater investment and raise Nigeria’s oil production by about 150,000 barrels per day when fully developed. Police Council confirms Olatunji Disu as substantive IGP

The Nigeria Police Council has unanimously approved the appointment of Olatunji Disu as the substantive Inspector General of Police. The council, chaired by President Bola Tinubu and made up of the 36 state governors, the chairman of the Police Service Commission and the IGP, reached the decision at a brief meeting in the Council Chamber of the State House, Abuja. Disu was appointed acting IGP on February 25, 2026, following the resignation of Kayode Egbetokun, and has now been confirmed as the 23rd police chief since Nigeria’s independence.
