At least 11 people were killed and 46 others injured after Russia launched another wave of overnight missile strikes on Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, according to local authorities. Among the injured are five children. Three additional fatalities were also reported in the surrounding Kyiv region.
Emergency crews continue search and rescue operations at more than 20 affected locations, where several residential buildings suffered severe damage. In some districts, apartment blocks partially collapsed, raising concerns that more victims may still be trapped beneath the rubble.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said ballistic missiles struck multiple areas of the city, sparking fires in residential complexes. Warehouses and a vehicle repair workshop were also damaged during the attacks.
Residents endured another night of air raid sirens, powerful explosions and air defence activity as Ukrainian forces attempted to intercept incoming missiles. Many sought shelter in underground metro stations as the bombardment continued.
Hours before the attack, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned that intelligence reports indicated Russia was preparing another large-scale assault on the capital. He renewed his appeal to Ukraine’s allies to speed up deliveries of advanced air defence systems and missiles capable of intercepting ballistic threats.
The latest strikes come just days after another deadly Russian attack on Kyiv that claimed dozens of lives. While Moscow says it is targeting military and energy infrastructure, Ukrainian officials insist that civilian areas continue to bear the brunt of the attacks.
The escalation comes on the eve of the NATO summit in Turkey, where President Zelensky is expected to meet with US President Donald Trump to discuss continued military support for Ukraine and the country’s air defence needs.

Girl Rescued After 32 Hours Under Earthquake Rubble
A 12-year-old girl has been rescued after spending 32 hours trapped beneath the rubble of her collapsed apartment building following two powerful earthquakes that struck Venezuela on 24 June. The earthquakes, which hit just seconds apart, caused widespread destruction across parts of the country. The second tremor measured 7.5 in magnitude, making it one of the strongest earthquakes to strike Venezuela in the past century. At the time of the disaster, Karina Blanco was preparing to lead a spinning class when she felt the ground shaking violently. As the tremors intensified, she rushed outside with everyone else before immediately thinking about her daughter, Fabiana, who had been home alone. "I realized how serious it was and all I could think about was my daughter," Karina recalled. She quickly drove home, fearing the worst. When she reached her neighborhood in Caraballeda, […]

He added that domestic issues such as bills, public services, and the economy are still tied to decisions made on the international stage. The outgoing prime minister said whoever replaces him must balance foreign policy and local concerns at the same time.
