Rohr backs CAS in AFCON title dispute

Benin head coach Gernot Rohr has thrown his support behind the Court of Arbitration for Sport as the best avenue to resolve the controversy over Senegal’s stripped AFCON title. He was reacting to the Confederation of African Football’s decision to take the trophy from Senegal and award it to Morocco two months after the final. Speaking ahead of Benin’s international matches in Morocco, Rohr described the ruling as unbelievable and said it ignores the human side of football. He noted that players who had already celebrated as champions were later told they were no longer winners, calling the situation inhuman and damaging to the spirit of the game. Rohr argued that such a late reversal of a tournament result could harm the psychological integrity of competitions across the continent. He believes that only a clear and final decision from the […]

Why, if I may ask?”, a remark that quickly drew public outrage online. Many social media users accused him of making an inappropriate and unprofessional comment towards a female […]

Oil prices plunge as Trump pauses Iran energy strikes

Oil prices fell sharply on Monday while European stock markets rebounded after United States President Donald Trump suddenly ordered a halt to planned strikes on Iranian energy infrastructure. His comments on Truth Social marked a sharp shift from his earlier threats over the weekend. Brent crude futures at one point dropped more than 14 percent before trimming losses to trade down about nine percent. West Texas Intermediate crude also slid, and European gas prices fell by around four percent as traders reacted to the pause in military action. Analysts said markets now need more clarity because Iran has publicly denied that any talks with the United States have taken place. That denial partly cooled the initial relief rally and reminded investors that tensions in the Middle East remain high. European stocks had opened the week with heavy losses but turned […]
