106 Nigerians arrested for drug trafficking in India

A total of 106 Nigerians were arrested in India for drug trafficking in 2024, according to the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) annual report released this week. The data, cited by The Indian Express, showed that Nepalese nationals topped the list with 203 arrests, followed by Nigerians (106) and Myanmarese (25). Other arrests included 18 Bangladeshis, 14 Ivorians, 13 Ghanaians, and 10 Icelanders. The report was made public by India’s Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, during the 2nd National Conference of Heads of Anti-Narcotics Task Forces. Abuja waste contractors threaten strike over 9 months unpaid wages

Contractors responsible for waste management in Abuja have threatened to down tools from September 25 if the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) fails to settle nine months of outstanding payments. In a letter to the Coordinator of the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council, the Association of FCT Solid Waste and Cleaning Contractors (AFSOWAC) said it could no longer guarantee uninterrupted sanitation services without urgent intervention. Essential services at risk AFSOWAC represents contractors overseeing 44 sanitation lots across the FCT, collectively clearing more than 1,000 tonnes of waste daily with over 100 refuse trucks and 60 tippers. Survey: Nigerians among strongest supporters of global cooperation

Nigerians rank among the world’s top advocates for international cooperation, according to a new global survey by The Rockefeller Foundation.
