Terrorism Is Nigeria’s Most Complex Security Threat Says Gen Musa

The Minister of Defence General Christopher Gwabin Musa Rtd has stated that terrorism remains Nigeria's most complex and challenging security threat facing the nation today. Speaking at a panel session on Countering Terrorism International Cooperation Reclaimed at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum 2026 in Türkiye the former Chief of Defence Staff emphasized that terrorism has become increasingly complex adaptive and transnational driven by decentralised networks emerging technologies and illicit financing. General Musa warned that the convergence of terrorism organised crime and banditry particularly across fragile regions such as the Sahel demands urgent and coordinated global action. Court Dismisses Suit Seeking to Bar Kingibe From ADC Activities

The Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed an urgent application seeking to bar Senator Ireti Kingibe from participating in activities of the African Democratic Congress following her alleged suspension from the party. Justice Peter Lifu on Thursday rejected an ex parte application filed by leaders of the ADC in Wuse Ward of the Federal Capital Territory who claimed the FCT lawmaker had been suspended over alleged anti-party activities. Instead of granting the request the judge directed the plaintiffs to put the senator on notice to appear in court and respond to their allegations. The judge ruled that discretion in requests for prohibition from party activities and in political matters must be exercised judicially and judiciously. ECOWAS Meeting FG Seeks Unified Action Against Border Crimes

The Federal Government has called on member states of the Economic Community of West African States to take unified and decisive action against rising cross border crimes in the sub region. It warned that issues such as terrorism human trafficking arms smuggling and irregular migration no longer respect national boundaries and must be confronted collectively. Veteran Nigerian television host Frank Edoho has denied serious allegations made by his estranged wife Sandra Onyenucheya and threatened to take legal action against her. Iran's national football team has taken steps to secure travel documents for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States as less than a month remains before the tournament begins. At least four Iranian football players along with one member of their support staff visited the US embassy in Ankara Turkey on Thursday to submit visa applications for the World Cup according to an AFP correspondent. Trump Administration Indicts Cuba’s Raul Castro Over 1996 Shootdown

The United States has indicted former Cuban President Raul Castro over the 1996 downing of two civilian planes flown by the Miami based exile group Brothers to the Rescue near Cuba. The indictment was unsealed in Miami nearly 30 years after the incident and marks one of the sharpest escalations in tensions between Washington and Havana in recent years. US prosecutors say Raul Castro was serving as Cuba’s defence minister when Cuban fighter jets were ordered to intercept and shoot down the unarmed aircraft on February 24 1996 killing four Cuban American exiles.
