In a recent interview, Joeboy explained that he was personally rooting for Davido to win but still believes Tyla earned the award on merit. He described her as a very good and amazing artist and said that when you honestly compare the songs in the category, “Water” fully deserved to come out on top. While discussing the artists who inspired her, Tems mentioned Celine Dion as one of her early musical influences. In response, Saka smiled and said, “I don’t know who that is,” a remark that immediately surprised Tems and has since gone viral on social media. Tems, visibly shocked but amused, replied, “You don’t know who Celine Dion is? Oh my gosh.” Saka, who was born in 2001, is known to enjoy contemporary music, especially Afrobeats, hip hop and RnB. He has previously mentioned artists like Burna Boy, Wizkid and Drake […]

Former Manchester United and Netherlands goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar has named André Onana among his small group of world class goalkeepers, placing the Cameroonian ahead of Arsenal’s David Raya in his latest ranking. In his assessment, van der Sar listed six goalkeepers as truly world class at the moment: Alisson Becker, André Onana, Thibaut Courtois, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Manuel Neuer and Emiliano Martínez, praising their consistency at the top level. By contrast, he placed Raya in a second tier of goalkeepers he believes are not yet world class, alongside names like Jan Oblak, Marc André ter Stegen, Yann Sommer, Nick Pope and Jordan Pickford. Van der Sar said he worked with Onana for several years at Ajax and remains convinced of his quality, highlighting his reflexes and ball playing ability, even though he admitted the Manchester United keeper still makes […]

Galatasaray chief denies owing Osimhen, teammates salaries

Galatasaray president Dursun Ozbek has dismissed viral reports claiming that the Turkish club owes Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen and other star players unpaid salaries. He described the stories as misleading and damaging, insisting that Galatasaray has met all its financial obligations to the squad in line with their contracts. Ozbek said it would be impossible for top professionals to keep playing if they were not paid for two or three months, adding that suggesting otherwise insults the players’ professionalism. He stressed that the club has not defaulted “on a single lira” in salary payments and that bonuses and incentive clauses are also settled on time. Club executives also pointed to Galatasaray’s recent financial clearance from UEFA as proof that the team is run on a disciplined payment schedule, with player wages typically paid ahead of usual European timelines. Ozbek urged […]

Dangote Refinery absorbs 20% of crude cost surge to stabilise fuel prices

Dangote Petroleum Refinery says it is currently absorbing about 20 percent of the recent crude oil cost escalation in order to reduce the impact of rising global prices on Nigerian fuel consumers. The company explained that the conflict in the Middle East and disruptions to global refining capacity have driven Brent crude prices up by roughly 26 percent, while Nigerian crude now trades at a premium of 3 to 6 dollars above the benchmark, with freight adding about 3.50 dollars per barrel. In response, the refinery implemented a 100 naira per litre increase in its ex depot price of petrol, representing about a 12 percent adjustment, but stressed that this is lower than the full rise in crude and logistics costs because it has chosen to absorb part of the escalation. Dangote Refinery said it receives around five cargoes of […]
