The eighth edition of Togo Top Impact concluded on Saturday, January 31, 2026, in Lomé, with the Grand Prize of Excellence awarded to Sandra Ablamba Johnson, Minister and Secretary General of the Presidency of the Council.
The distinction recognizes a career marked by impact, consistency, and strategic leadership in public governance. According to the jury, Sandra Ablamba Johnson has played a key role in coordinating government policies and overseeing cross-cutting reforms within the executive, contributing to more effective and coherent public action.
Recognition for Governance and Reform Leadership
In its justification, the jury highlighted her contribution to strengthening governance mechanisms, improving coordination among public administrations, and reinforcing a culture of performance and accountability within government institutions.
This recognition comes at a time when Togo continues major economic and institutional reforms, particularly aimed at improving the business environment. These reforms are driven by objectives of efficiency, transparency, and stronger policy coherence across the public sector.
An Economist with an Extensive Academic and Professional Background
Sandra Ablamba Ahoéfavi Johnson is an economist by training. She holds a doctorate in economics and a Diploma of Specialized Higher Studies (DESS) from the University of Lomé. Her academic background also includes specialized training in economic programming and financial policy at the International Monetary Fund Institute in Washington, as well as labour economics at the International Labour Organization Academy in Turin.
She began her career within the Togolese public administration at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, before serving at the Ministry of Development Planning and Cooperation. In 2012, she joined the Presidency of the Republic as a senior economist.
She later served as Presidential Advisor in charge of improving the business environment, coordinating reforms that enhanced Togo’s economic attractiveness and contributed to the country’s improved performance in international rankings. Appointed Minister and Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic in September 2020, she has since occupied a central role in the coordination of government action.
A Ceremony Highlighting Excellence Across Sectors
Beyond the Grand Prize, the 2026 edition of Togo Top Impact honored around twenty personalities and initiatives from the public sector, private sector, and civil society.
The title of Personality of the Year was awarded to Alexandre de Souza, Director-General of the Togolese Center for Exhibitions and Fairs (CETEF), in recognition of his leadership and management achievements. Other awards celebrated excellence in entrepreneurship, innovation, culture, management, and social action, reflecting the diversity of contributions shaping Togo’s development.
