Coordinated attacks shake Mali, fighting ongoing
Explosions and heavy gunfire have been reported in Bamako as armed groups launched coordinated attacks across Mali. The military confirmed that fighting was ongoing, stating that defence and security forces were actively responding to the assaults. Witnesses reported intense gunfire and blasts around Kati, which hosts a key military base. Roads in the area were quickly sealed off by security forces. Attacks were also reported in northern cities such as Gao and Kidal, as well as Sévaré. Analysts describe the offensive as one of the most significant in recent years.
