SSANU rejects fake 30 percent deal issues strike ultimatum
The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities has dismissed claims that it has reached a wage agreement with the Federal Government and has reaffirmed its threat to begin an indefinite strike from April 30 if talks are not concluded. In a communiqué issued after a Special National Executive Council meeting held on April 18 in Abuja, the union said renegotiation of its agreement with government is still ongoing despite seven meetings since October 2024. It condemned a letter circulating in public that suggested the president had approved a 30 percent increase in allowances as misleading and a violation of collective bargaining.
