UEFA reject Barca handball complaint before Atletico return

UEFA has rejected Barcelona’s complaint over a controversial handball incident in their Champions League quarter‑final first leg defeat to Atletico Madrid, just hours before the return leg. Atletico won the first game 2–0 at Camp Nou, but Barcelona were furious that no penalty was awarded when defender Marc Pubill appeared to handle the ball after receiving what looked like a goal kick inside the area. “After the first leg, Barcelona filed a protest relating to a referee decision. On 13 April 2026, the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body declared the protest to be inadmissible,” UEFA said in a statement. UEFA sanctions Tottenham over fans’ Nazi gestures in Champions League tie

UEFA has sanctioned Tottenham Hotspur after three of the club’s supporters were found to have made Nazi style salutes during a Champions League away match against Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany. The European football body fined Spurs 30,000 euros for racist and discriminatory behaviour and imposed a suspended one match ban on selling away tickets in UEFA competitions. The away ticket ban will only take effect if there is a repeat offence within a one year probationary period, meaning it does not affect Tottenham’s upcoming last 16 trip to face Atletico Madrid. UEFA also issued a separate 2,250 euro fine after some Spurs supporters were found to have thrown objects during the 2–0 win at Deutsche Bank Park on January 28.
