He was responding to viral clips of Wizkid and Tems joining Canadian pop star Justin Bieber on stage to perform the remix of “Essence” at the California festival. “Still wondering why Essence did not win a Grammy. Great song, great rhythm!” Onanuga wrote in his post. Released in 2020, “Essence” marked a major breakthrough for Afrobeats and Nigerian music on the global stage.
