Afrobeats stars Tems and Burna Boy have made history by becoming the African artists with the most entries ever on the prestigious U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart. The Nigerian duo have now each recorded eight appearances on the Hot 100, moving past South African rock band Seether, who previously shared the record with seven entries.
Their latest milestone came through guest features on American rapper J. Cole’s new album, “The Fall-Off.” “Bounce Road Blues,” featuring Tems and Future, debuted at number 34, while “Only You,” which features Burna Boy, entered at number 78, pushing both singers to eight Hot 100 credits apiece.
For Tems, the achievement caps a remarkable run on the U.S. charts this year. She has already earned three Hot 100 entries in 2026 alone with “Raindance” alongside British rapper Dave, her solo single “What You Need,” and now “Bounce Road Blues,” making her the African artist with the most Hot 100 appearances so far this year.
The new record also builds on Tems’ earlier landmark as the first African female artist to secure seven Hot 100 entries, a feat that initially tied her with Burna Boy and Seether before this week’s update. Her Billboard résumé includes global smashes like “Wait For U” with Future and Drake, “Essence” with Wizkid and Justin Bieber, and her breakout solo hit “Free Mind.”
Burna Boy’s latest entry further cements his status as one of Africa’s most consistent crossover acts. With “Only You,” he becomes the first African artist to appear on the Billboard Hot 100 in six consecutive years, from 2021 through 2026, with songs such as “Last Last,” “Sittin’ On Top Of The World,” “Talibans II,” “Just Like Me,” “We Pray,” “WGFT,” and others marking his sustained presence.
Industry observers say the joint record underscores the growing global influence of Nigerian music and Afrobeats, proving that African artists can consistently compete on the world’s biggest singles chart. The success of Tems and Burna Boy is expected to open more doors for African talents, strengthening the continent’s commercial power in the U.S. market and beyond.

US Iran war: FG gets N5tn oil windfall amid fuel pain
Nigeria’s Federal Government has earned an estimated N5.13 trillion oil windfall from the surge in global crude prices triggered by the ongoing conflict between the United States and Iran. However, despite the revenue boost, Nigerians continue to grapple with fuel scarcity, high pump prices and rising transport and living costs. According to industry data cited in the report, the country’s additional crude oil earnings have accumulated over recent months as Brent prices climbed well above earlier budget projections. The war and fears of wider instability in the Middle East have tightened global supply, pushing up prices and generating unexpected income for oil producing nations, including Nigeria. Analysts estimate that Nigeria’s windfall, put at about N5.13 trillion, is based on the difference between the benchmark oil price in the national budget and the much higher average price recorded since hostilities escalated. Key figures in the Kwankwasiyya movement say talks with NDC leaders are now at an advanced stage, with only minor details left to be resolved. According to leaders of the Obi Kwankwaso alliance, often called the OK Movement, the decision follows growing uncertainty over the legal and leadership situation in the ADC. A prominent Kwankwasiyya chieftain, Saifullahi Mohammed, disclosed that stakeholders from all 44 local government areas of Kano State met at Kwankwaso’s residence and unanimously endorsed the move to the NDC.
