Osimhen inches closer to Yekini’s goal scoring record

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen is now just two goals away from equalling Rashidi Yekini’s long standing goal record for Nigeria after scoring in the 2–0 AFCON 2025 quarter final victory over Algeria. His latest strike took his tally to 35 goals for the national team, closing in on Yekini’s benchmark of 37.​ Osimhen had already moved to 34 goals with a brace in the round of 16 win against Mozambique in Fez, where Nigeria won 4–0.
