US military drafts intervention plan for Nigeria amid Trump’s genocide claims

The United States military has reportedly developed plans for possible intervention in Nigeria following President Donald Trump’s claim that a “Christian genocide” is taking place in the country. Trump recently said on social media that “Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria,” alleging that thousands of Christians have been killed by “radical Islamists.” He then directed the Pentagon to prepare an intervention plan. US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth immediately responded, instructing the Africa Command (AFRICOM) to submit operational options for possible strikes. According to reports, AFRICOM, headquartered in Stuttgart, Germany, has presented three options — light, medium, and heavy — outlining escalating levels of military involvement. Light OptionThe light option involves “partner-enabled operations,” where the US military and State Department would assist Nigerian forces in targeting Boko Haram and other insurgent groups operating mainly in northern Nigeria.Under this plan, […]

Russia may resume nuclear tests after Trump’s remarks – Putin

Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that Russia may consider resuming nuclear tests if the United States proceeds with similar actions. He made this known on Wednesday during a meeting of Russia’s Security Council, convened in response to comments by US President Donald Trump. The statement adds a new chapter to the rising nuclear tension between the two largest nuclear powers, as both leaders continue to clash over global security issues and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Putin instructed Russia’s defence and foreign ministries, along with security agencies, to gather intelligence and prepare proposals on the “possible start of preparation works for nuclear weapons tests.” Russia last conducted a nuclear test in 1990, a year before the collapse of the Soviet Union. Trump had posted on social media last week that he had directed the Pentagon to “start testing our […]

In an official statement, the Coalition described the assault — reportedly involving a sitting Member of Parliament accused of inciting residents to confront state officials — as a “grave affront to national security, democratic governance, and the rule of law.” The group warned that illegal mining (galamsey) continues to destroy rivers, forests, and farming lands, posing a direct threat to Ghana’s environment, economy, and public health. APC Chieftain Onjeh Warns Trump Against Military Threat to Nigeria

Comrade Daniel Onjeh, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Chairman of the Governing Board of the Project Development Institute (PRODA), has condemned the recent threat by former US President Donald Trump to launch military action against Nigeria over alleged religious persecution. In a statement released on Sunday, Onjeh described Trump’s comments as “dangerous and unnecessary,” warning that they could inflame tensions and distort Nigeria’s complex security situation. “The statement has alarmed many Nigerians, not because it came from President Trump alone, but because there’s a long-standing perception that some external forces always see Nigeria through the lens of instability,” he said. “That is why many Nigerians do not take this recent statement as a mere expression of concern.” Onjeh acknowledged that insecurity and killings in Nigeria are real and require urgent attention, but rejected the claim […]
