Israel names first resident ambassador to Slovenia
Israel has appointed Ruth Cohen‑Dar as its first resident ambassador to Slovenia following the decision to open an embassy in Ljubljana. The move ends a long period in which Israel managed relations with Slovenia through a non‑resident envoy based elsewhere. The appointment was approved unanimously by Israel’s cabinet and reflects a warming of diplomatic ties after last year’s change of government in Slovenia. Relations had cooled under the previous Slovenian administration, but improved after a new government took office and signaled closer cooperation.
