Liverpool’s Ekitike set to miss World Cup after injury blow

Liverpool striker Hugo Ekitike is set to miss the 2026 World Cup and the remainder of the season after suffering a severe Achilles tendon rupture during Tuesday’s Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain. The 23-year-old French forward sustained the injury midway through the first half at Anfield when he planted his right foot to accelerate and immediately crumpled to the turf, clutching his lower leg.
