NFVCB honours Funke Akindele as box office champion

The National Film and Video Censors Board has honoured Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele as a box office champion for her record-breaking achievements in Nigerian cinema. At an event in Lagos, Akindele received multiple awards, including recognition for excellence in promoting indigenous films. Ini Edo begs NFVCB not to pull film from cinemas

Actress and filmmaker Ini Edo has appealed to the National Film and Video Censors Board and the public not to pull her new movie, A Very Dirty Christmas, from cinemas, insisting the film does not mock Christianity. IK Ogbonna Rita Dominic defend A Very Dirty Christmas after CAN backlash​

Actor IK Ogbonna and actress Rita Dominic have spoken out in defence of Ini Edo’s new film A Very Dirty Christmas after the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, condemned its title as offensive to Christians. CAN had described the title as disrespectful to the Christian faith and the sacredness of Christmas.​ In a statement shared on Instagram, Ogbonna said the title was never intended to mock or undermine Christianity. Nigeria, China boost ties with film and culture exchange

Nigeria and China have renewed their commitment to strengthening cultural and economic diplomacy through film and creative industries. This pledge was emphasized at a symposium in Lagos themed “Promoting Cultural and Economic Diplomacy Through Film.” The event was organized by the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA), the Chinese Consulate General, and other stakeholders.
