Businessman excretes 45 cocaine wraps as NDLEA seizes Captagon in Kwara

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) says a 33 year old businessman has excreted 45 wraps of cocaine after he was intercepted on a commercial bus in Oyo State, just as operatives seized a fresh consignment of the terror drug Captagon and other hard drugs in Kwara and several other states.​ NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi said in a statement that the latest Captagon bust came almost five years after the agency recorded Africa’s first seizure of the amphetamine pill at Apapa seaport in Lagos. NDLEA secures forfeiture of N33.6bn opioids seized at Onne Port

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has secured an interim forfeiture order on 17 containers of illicit opioids worth over N33.6 billion intercepted at the Onne Port in Rivers State. NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi said in a statement on Tuesday that the containers were seized at the Port Harcourt Ports Complex, Onne, on different dates between April and September 2025. They contained 19.6 million pills of Tramadol, Tafrodol, Tapentadol and Carisoprodol, as well as 2,496,400 bottles of codeine syrup, with a combined street value estimated at N33,691,200,000. The interim forfeiture order was granted by Justice Adamu Turaki Mohammed of the Federal High Court, Port Harcourt, following a motion ex parte filed by the NDLEA on February 10, 2026, in suit number FHC/PH/MISC/25/2026. NDLEA busts syndicate hiding cocaine and loud in food flasks to UK

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has uncovered a drug trafficking syndicate that hid cocaine and loud in food flasks and snack packs for shipment to the United Kingdom and Nigeria.​ The agency said its officers at the export shed of Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, intercepted 12 large parcels of cocaine concealed in the false bottom of food flasks on April 9. The consignment, weighing 2.80 kilograms, was destined for the UK on a Virgin Atlantic flight.​ Two cargo agents, Ama Obinna Ufeim, 33, and Ogabi Monday Akorede, 39, were arrested at the airport. NDLEA arrests 93 year old man and doctor in nationwide drug raids

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has arrested a 93 year old man, a 69 year old medical doctor and several others in a nationwide crackdown on drug cartels. NDLEA Director of Media and Advocacy Femi Babafemi said the intelligence led operations were carried out across multiple states. In Abia State, operatives arrested 93 year old Pa Friday Ahukanna Chigbu at his home, where they recovered 7.7kg of cannabis, also known as skunk. Marwa urges stronger intelligence sharing to fight insecurity

Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Buba Marwa has called for closing key intelligence gaps as a central step in tackling Nigeria’s worsening insecurity. Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have intercepted a large consignment of cocaine concealed in the heads of imported dry stock fish in Lagos. The seizure was made during a strategic operation targeting a trans border drug syndicate that ships narcotics to countries including India. NDLEA foils bid to ship opioids, meth abroad via Lagos airport

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has stopped several attempts by drug trafficking groups to export methamphetamine and opioids hidden in carton walls, winter jackets and body cream containers through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport and a courier company in Lagos.​ NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi said two drug consignments to Italy were intercepted at the Lagos airport and two suspects linked to them were arrested. Court clears Abba Kyari in asset non declaration case

A Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed the non declaration of assets case filed by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency against suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police Abba Kyari and his two brothers. Delivering judgment, Justice James Omotosho held that the NDLEA failed to provide sufficient and credible evidence to prove that Kyari owned the properties and funds listed in the charge sheet. The judge ruled that the prosecution did not tender documents clearly linking Kyari to several properties in Abuja and Maiduguri, or to the bank accounts said to contain over N207 million and 17,598 euros. He noted that under the law, ownership of landed property must be proved through title documents, traditional history or clear acts of possession, but the NDLEA did not meet this requirement in court. Army intercepts 296 wraps of suspected cannabis in Ogun

Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 35 Artillery Brigade, Alamala Barracks, Abeokuta, have intercepted 296 large wraps of substances suspected to be cannabis sativa in Ogun State.​ The suspects were arrested during a stop and search operation along a major route in the state, after soldiers became suspicious of a commercial vehicle and ordered a thorough inspection.​ According to the army, the illicit substances were carefully concealed in multiple compartments of the vehicle in a bid to evade security checks.​ The driver and one other occupant were taken into custody after allegedly failing to provide satisfactory explanations or valid documentation for the consignment.​ Preliminary findings suggest the drugs were being transported from a border community for distribution to other parts of the southwest.​ The army said the seized wraps and suspects will be handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement […]
