Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have arrested a Chinese woman at Murtala Muhammed International Airport Lagos for attempting to travel with a drug consignment. Details released so far show the suspect was intercepted during clearance checks after officers flagged her luggage and travel profile for closer scrutiny.
Preliminary findings indicate the consignment contained packaged illicit substances concealed in her shipment, consistent with recent attempts by international drug cartels to move methamphetamine, cocaine and potent cannabis strains such as Canadian Loud through Nigerian airports. In similar operations at Lagos and Kano airports this year, NDLEA has intercepted multiple cocaine and methamphetamine runs involving foreign nationals and China‑bound traffickers.
The interception at Lagos airport comes amid a wider crackdown in which NDLEA has arrested a China‑based Nigerian auto dealer who ingested 95 wraps of cocaine on his way to China, as well as dismantled smuggling rings that excreted a combined 236 pellets of cocaine at Abuja and Kano airports. The agency has also seized shipments of Colorado and Canadian Loud concealed in food tins and moimoi sachets at seaports and warehouses.
NDLEA authorities say the latest arrest underscores their resolve to track airport‑based drug networks using passenger profiling, body scans and intelligence‑led surveillance. The Chinese suspect is expected to face further interrogation, and her case will be transferred to the NDLEA Directorate of Prosecution once investigations on the source and intended destination of the drugs are concluded.

Jim Iyke says formal education is not enough for success
Nollywood actor Jim Iyke has said that formal education alone is not enough to guarantee success in life. Iyke said the idea that school alone can secure a successful future is misleading. He argued that many successful people learned important life skills outside the classroom. He also shared a personal example, saying he is doing better than some of his former lecturers. He used the example to support his view that life achievements do not always depend on academic certificates. The actor said he learned valuable lessons from traders and older people who guided him on survival and decision […]

Almajiri commission says projects are constituency interventions
The National Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children Education has defended the controversial projects listed in its 2026 budget. The commission said the projects are constituency interventions and were not meant to replace its core education mandate. These included roads, solar street lights, ambulances and dental equipment in some states. The commission was created to help reduce the number of out of school children and support Almajiri education. Critics say the new projects do not align with that role and could weaken the agency’s main mission.
