NDLEA busts syndicate hiding cocaine and loud in food flasks to UK

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has uncovered a drug trafficking syndicate that hid cocaine and loud in food flasks and snack packs for shipment to the United Kingdom and Nigeria.​ The agency said its officers at the export shed of Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, intercepted 12 large parcels of cocaine concealed in the false bottom of food flasks on April 9. The consignment, weighing 2.80 kilograms, was destined for the UK on a Virgin Atlantic flight.​ Two cargo agents, Ama Obinna Ufeim, 33, and Ogabi Monday Akorede, 39, were arrested at the airport. LASEMA releases preliminary report on Qatar Air emergency landing

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has released its preliminary report on the Qatar Airways flight that made an emergency landing at Murtala Muhammed International Airport after developing a mid‑air technical fault. According to the agency, the aircraft, which was carrying 248 passengers and 12 crew members, sent a distress signal while in Nigerian airspace, prompting an immediate activation of the state’s emergency response plan.​ LASEMA said its Lagos Response Team, alongside airport fire services, LASAMBUS, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and other responders, were deployed to the runway as the plane prepared for a forced landing. NDLEA arrests ex convict, three others over UK bound cocaine hidden in starch sachets

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has arrested an ex convict, Nwobodo Chidiebere Basil, and three cargo agents after intercepting cocaine concealed in liquid starch sachets and destined for the United Kingdom. NDLEA operatives recovered 75 parcels of cocaine weighing 1.50kg from factory sealed cold water starch sachets at the export shed of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos.​ Agency spokesman Femi Babafemi said the three cargo agents, Jubrin Firdausi Hassana, Kuku Daniel Oluwasegun and Igwe Chioma Jane, were arrested on Saturday, December 20, 2025, in connection with the shipment.
