Former Kano governor Shekarau quits PDP amid APC move

Former Kano State governor Ibrahim Shekarau has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party, in a move widely seen as paving the way for his return to the ruling All Progressives Congress.​ His decision followed days of consultations with members of his Shura committee, his core political support group. In a formal letter dated April 19 and addressed to the PDP chairman of Giginyu Ward in Nassarawa Local Government Area of Kano State, Shekarau notified the party of his exit, with copies sent to the Kano State PDP chairman and the Nassarawa LGA chairman.​ “Accept this letter please as notice of my resignation from my position as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party with effect from today,” he wrote, adding that the decision came after wide and extensive deliberations within his political group on pursuing their ambitions in another party.​ […]
