Trump Says Would Like to Meet Iran Leader Khamenei

US President Donald Trump has expressed willingness to meet with Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as diplomatic efforts to end the ongoing conflict between Washington and Tehran show little progress. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in an interview that Trump is open to meeting anybody, including Iran's supreme leader. "I'm pretty confident in saying that if the Ayatollah said tomorrow he wanted to meet with President Trump, the president would meet him," Rubio told Bloomberg. Hostilities Flare in Iran War as Oil Jumps with Talks at Stalemate

Gulf hostilities flared anew on Wednesday, with the US military saying Iranian missile attacks on Bahrain, Kuwait and other regional targets were either thwarted or failed, as diplomacy between Washington and Tehran showed little progress. Two Iranian missiles shot at Kuwait fell short or broke apart in flight, while several ballistic missiles aimed at regional targets failed and three missiles heading for Bahrain were intercepted, US Central Command said. Russia Threatens New Strikes on Kyiv

Russia has warned that it could launch a new series of large-scale strikes on Kyiv, just days after carrying out one of its heaviest attacks on the Ukrainian capital since the war began. In a statement released by the Russian foreign ministry, Moscow said future operations would target what it described as “decision-making centres”, military command posts and drone production facilities located in Kyiv. Deadly Russian Strikes Hit Kyiv Again

At least eight people, including a 12-year-old girl, were killed in Kyiv after Russia launched one of its largest overnight drone and missile attacks on Ukraine since the beginning of the war in 2022. Ukrainian emergency services said the victims were found under the rubble of a heavily damaged apartment building in the capital. Russia batters Ukraine’s power grid with drones and missiles ahead of peace talks

Russia has launched one of its heaviest winter barrages on Ukraine’s energy system, firing around 450 drones and more than 70 missiles across eight regions and knocking out heating for hundreds of thousands of people in sub‑zero temperatures.
