NATO allies plan big new US arms buys for Ukraine
NATO allies have pledged to make major new purchases of United States-made weapons and equipment to strengthen Ukraine’s defences as the war with Russia continues. Defence ministers and senior officials from several member states signalled plans to sign fresh contracts for air defence systems, artillery, drones, and ammunition, saying Ukraine still urgently needs long-term military support. The new commitments are expected to run into billions of dollars and will focus on replenishing Ukraine’s stocks while also rebuilding allied arsenals that have been depleted by previous transfers to Kyiv.
