Beckham becomes first British billionaire sportsman
Former England captain Sir David Beckham has become Britain’s first billionaire sportsman, according to the 2026 Sunday Times Rich List. The collective wealth of Beckham and his wife Victoria has surged past the billion-pound mark, reaching an estimated £1.185bn this year. The couple’s fortune has more than doubled from the £500m figure reported on the 2025 list, driven by fresh commercial deals, growing brand value and the rapid appreciation of Beckham’s stake in Major League Soccer side Inter Miami. Inter Miami, boosted by the arrival of Lionel Messi and associated commercial spin-offs, is now valued at around $1.45bn, making it MLS’s most valuable club.
