Navy intercepts 130 bags of smuggled rice in Badagry

The Nigerian Navy has intercepted 130 bags of smuggled foreign rice in the Badagry area of Lagos State during a recent anti smuggling operation. The seizure is part of ongoing efforts by naval authorities to clamp down on economic saboteurs operating along Nigeria’s western maritime corridor and border creeks. According to naval sources, personnel attached to the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Badagry carried out intelligence led patrols along the Badagry–Porto Novo axis before tracking down the smugglers. The operation, conducted in line with the Navy’s harmonised standard operating procedures, led to the confiscation of multiple bags of foreign parboiled rice that had been brought in through illegal routes. The inaugural NewHope Naija Football Club Scouting Tournament has showcased 150 emerging talents from academies in Lagos and Ijebu Ode at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan. NDLEA busts syndicate hiding cocaine and loud in food flasks to UK

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has uncovered a drug trafficking syndicate that hid cocaine and loud in food flasks and snack packs for shipment to the United Kingdom and Nigeria.​ The agency said its officers at the export shed of Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, intercepted 12 large parcels of cocaine concealed in the false bottom of food flasks on April 9. The consignment, weighing 2.80 kilograms, was destined for the UK on a Virgin Atlantic flight.​ Two cargo agents, Ama Obinna Ufeim, 33, and Ogabi Monday Akorede, 39, were arrested at the airport. Police bust job scam kidnap gang luring victims to Rivers

The Rivers State Police Command has uncovered and arrested a kidnap syndicate that lured victims from Lagos and other states to Rivers with fake job offers. Police said the abduction of one Chukwudekwu Emmanuel, a Lagos resident kidnapped on 17 February 2026 in Etche Local Government Area, led to the breakthrough. Operatives attached to the Emohua area, using technology driven strategies introduced by Inspector General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu, arrested three key suspects on 14 April 2026.
