The Akowonjo area of Lagos came alive on Saturday night as gospel singer Tope Alabi led thousands of worshippers in a powerful praise session at the Akowonjo for Christ Crusade.
The open space at the Pertinence Group premises in Egbeda was filled with intense worship as she performed soul lifting songs that drew the crowd into deep moments of prayer and reflection. Many in the audience sang along, danced and expressed joy throughout her ministration.
During her session, Alabi stressed the importance of salvation and told worshippers that true worship must be rooted in a personal relationship with Christ. She warned that worship without accepting Jesus is meaningless and invited people to surrender their lives to Him. Many responded to the altar call.
The three day crusade, organised by The Great Commission and The Grace Rock Church, also featured sermons and prayers led by several clerics.
Pastor Funso Popoola of The Grace Rock Church urged participants to remain expectant of God’s intervention. Using the story of the healing at the Pool of Bethesda, he reminded the congregation that God’s power is still available to everyone who believes. He told worshippers that God had come specifically for them and encouraged them to focus on prayer rather than complaints.
President of The Great Commission Christian Network, Andy Ikehide, led the crowd in intense prayers and worship. Speaking on the theme Arise for your light has come, he referred to Peter’s deliverance in Acts Chapter 12 and urged people to seek God for restoration and open doors. He declared that what destroyed others would not destroy them and that when God opens a door no one can close it.
The crusade, which began on Friday April 10, will conclude today, Sunday April 12 2026, at the Pertinence Group premises behind the NEPA Filling Station at Tinuola Close, Animashaun Bus Stop, Akowonjo.
Beyond preaching and music, organisers also offered free medical services, including blood pressure and malaria checks, and shared food items such as garri and rice with members of the community.
Many who answered the altar call received personal prayers, marking one of the key spiritual highlights of the programme.

Enugu Air aircraft suffers runway excursion at Benin Airport
