Lagos DSVA: Simi cannot be prosecuted without evidence

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency has said it cannot prosecute singer Simi over her resurfaced 2012 tweets without concrete evidence or testimony from alleged victims.​ Executive Secretary of the agency, Lola Vivour Adeniyi, explained on Channels Television’s Morning Brief that the DSVA has a duty to begin a preliminary review of the matter because of the public outcry. She stressed, however, that the law requires statements or cooperation from survivors before any case can move forward.​ Vivour Adeniyi said it would be very difficult to take formal legal action against the artist in the absence of a complainant. Speeding truck crushes LAWMA worker on Eko Bridge corridor

A Lagos Waste Management Authority worker, identified as Baba Ibeji, has been severely injured after a loaded container truck crushed him along the Offin Canal corridor inward Eko Bridge.​ The accident happened in the early hours at Oja Junction when the speeding truck reportedly suffered brake failure while descending the CMS Bridge toward Eko Bridge. The vehicle hit the LAWMA operative as he was clearing refuse on the median, then rammed into a Toyota Camry with registration number FST 417 FS.​ Officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority on duty in the area quickly intervened and pulled the victim out from under the wreckage. INEC moves ward level voter registration for 2027 polls

The Independent National Electoral Commission in Lagos says it will move its Continuous Voter Registration from local government offices to wards on a rotational basis ahead of the 2027 elections. Lagos Resident Electoral Commissioner, Prof Ayobami Salami, told stakeholders at a meeting on the second phase of the CVR that the plan is to reduce voter apathy and make registration easier for eligible residents. He said CVR remains one of INEC’s most important duties because it allows Nigerians to register, transfer their registration, correct details and replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards. Salami disclosed that in the first phase of the exercise, Lagos recorded 139,251 registrations, with 126,668 new voters and 12,583 transfers. LASEMA releases preliminary report on Qatar Air emergency landing

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has released its preliminary report on the Qatar Airways flight that made an emergency landing at Murtala Muhammed International Airport after developing a mid‑air technical fault. Fire guts 10 shops at Oshodi Arena market

A fire on Tuesday evening destroyed about 10 shops at the popular Arena Market in Bolade, Oshodi, Lagos State. The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the incident in a statement by its Controller General, Margaret Adeseye.​ The agency said it received a distress call at about 5:50 p.m. and deployed firefighting units immediately. Responders arrived at the scene within five minutes, at around 5:55 p.m.​ Adeseye explained that the fire affected a section of the market made up of five 40 foot container shops arranged in two rows, bringing the total number of damaged shops to 10.
