Troops repel fresh ISWAP attack in Chibok
Nigerian troops of the 28 Task Force Brigade under Sector 4 of Operation Hadin Kai have repelled another large-scale attack by ISWAP/Boko Haram fighters on Chibok in Borno State. The terrorists were said to have stormed the area in large numbers, but were confronted by soldiers who engaged them in a fierce firefight. Military sources quoted in the report said the insurgents attempted to infiltrate the town from multiple directions. However, the troops’ superior firepower and coordinated response forced the attackers to retreat in disarray. Several terrorists were reportedly killed in the encounter, while others fled with gunshot injuries. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered during a mop-up of the battlefield, though exact figures were not immediately disclosed.
