NAPTIP rescues 221 victims of human trafficking in Jigawa

The Jigawa Command of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has rescued 221 victims of human trafficking in the state within two years. The State Commander, Mr Abdulladir Turajo, disclosed this during a one-day sensitisation campaign against human trafficking held in Kazaure on Friday. Turajo said the victims were rescued and reunited with their families following the establishment of the command in July 2023. According to him, NAPTIP has also secured two convictions and conducted 175 sensitisation programmes across communities, schools, places of worship, motor parks, and markets in Jigawa. Ghana jails Nigerian man 10 years for trafficking sister, nine others

A Ghanaian court has sentenced a 29-year-old Nigerian man, Chukwudi Nwachukwu, to 10 years in prison for trafficking his younger sister and nine other girls from Nigeria to Ghana for prostitution. The victims, aged between 15 and 18, were deceived with promises of restaurant jobs but were forced into sex work upon arrival in Ghana. One of the victims was Nwachukwu’s own sister. Libyan Police Arrest Six Nigerians, Local Driver and Mother for Human Trafficking

Police in Libya’s Sirte region have arrested six Nigerian migrants, a Libyan driver, and his mother over alleged human trafficking. According to Migrant Rescue Watch (MRW), officers from the Abu Najim Police Department intercepted a vehicle driven by the Libyan suspect, identified only as A.M.M., with his mother accompanying him.
