Nollywood actor Stanley Amandi held over alleged coup plot

Nollywood actor and director Stanley Amandi has been arrested alongside several military officers over an alleged plot to overthrow President Bola Tinubu’s government. A source in the Actors Guild of Nigeria said Amandi, a former chairman of the guild’s Enugu State chapter, was picked up in September 2025. He was allegedly recruited by the suspected plotters to work as a media propagandist and help drive their messages. According to government officials familiar with the probe, the accused officers are believed to have planned a violent seizure of power. President Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio and House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas were reportedly marked for assassination.  Enugu Gov Mbah to Lead NEC Security Training Reform Panel

The National Economic Council (NEC) has appointed the Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, to chair a special committee tasked with overhauling the training institutions for Nigeria's security agencies. The decision was made during the 152nd NEC meeting presided over by President Bola Tinubu. The committee, which includes six other state governors, is mandated to produce a comprehensive blueprint within one month. The plan will focus on renovating and modernizing training facilities for the Nigeria Police and other security agencies to make them more conducive for learning. N5.7bn Fraud: EFCC Moves to Seize Sujimoto CEO’s Assets

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has secured a court order against Sijibomi Ogundele, CEO of Sujimoto Luxury Construction Limited, over alleged diversion of ₦5.7 billion meant for 22 Smart Green School projects in Enugu State. Ogundele, whose accounts and international passport had earlier been seized, is now facing remand while investigations continue. The EFCC may also seek a fresh court order to confiscate his personal and company assets. The anti-graft agency declared Ogundele wanted two weeks ago for alleged money laundering. He later took to social media, blaming inflation and “underpriced contracts” for failing to deliver the projects.
